Bom sucesso Interface
The project was developed within the context of the subway network implementation in Porto city. The county, in accordance with “Metro do Porto”, created a set of public transport interfaces, so as to concentrate a set of bus stops in strategic locations of the city. Two infrastructures of this type were developed in this area of the city, one located in the subway station of Casa da Música and the Interface Bom Sucesso.
The project aimed at building a covered space for public transport users, as well as redesigning the public space near the Bom Sucesso market. This intervention allowed the obvious improvement in buses' waiting conditions, the upgrading of freight and unloading areas of the market, and the creation of an access to the garages located at the rear of a residential building facing Júlio Dinis street.
Given the need to build this infrastructure in a short time, it was decided to design a metal structure with the dimensions of 78,5x18,5m, with the capacity to accommodate simultaneously 6 buses of 12m length.
The structure was covered with tempered silk screen printed glass in order to allow a controlled natural light for the whole space, as well as endowing the building with a luminous and salubrious character.
The chosen ceramic paver tile allowed to highlight the space for public transport exclusive circulation. It was also planned to build five glass and steel parallelepipedic volumes, where the ticket office and some commercial support of the interface were located.
